My biggest and weirdest singing stuggle!!

I have this weird problem when I sing.
When I sing I can feel my tongue in the being in the way blocking my throat. Also my tongue muscle isn't pushed out instead its pushed inwards ( only a little).
I had this problem since I wanted to change my voice like Vanessa Hudgens! This is because I thought my voice was not sweet enough so i tried to find a way to sweeten my voice.
It worked and i got a more sweeter voice but obviously its not the right way to do it. (never try to copy your favorite singer!)
I was encouraged to do so because my friends keep telling me how good I sound. The problem with this bad habit is when I sing high notes my tongue tend to block my throat a bit to be able to hit those notes!
I am pretty sure its not right but i can never change it or i just don't know the exercise to change this habit. Can you please help me Roger!
Thanks

Biggest and weirdest singing struggle

I understand what you mean when your tongue is blocking your singing voice. You should practice exercises, such as opening your mouth with your tongue relaxed, and sing 'la-ga-la-ga' in a scale, without moving your jaw, just your tongue. You will sound very weird doing this, but this will help open up the back of your throat and you will feel it rising slightly. With practice, you should get a richer tone to your voice. Also, when you are singing, relax your tongue and place it behind your bottom teeth, so it is just touching it slightly. However, it should not rise up whilst doing this. Good luck with your singing!
